Invest Seoul announced the list of ‘CORE 100’, the promising companies representing Seoul, to identify companies located in the capital of Korea with high potential in order to attract foreign investment while providing various support for them to get the investments.
In 2022, a total of 103 companies were selected, focusing on the 5 key industries of Seoul to foster: AI, Robotics, FinTech, Bio/Medical and Smart mobility. The CORE 100 companies were given a variety of support programs, such as the advancement of the fact sheet and IR pitch deck, promotional video production, consulting to strengthen their communication capabilities, and investment attraction matching with foreign investors.
Looking at the 103 companies, among the key industries in Seoul, Bio/Medical industry-related companies with high investment demand account for the largest portion with a total of 34 companies, followed by AI and FinTech companies with 19 and 17 respectively.
The distribution of investment rounds of CORE 100 companies was in the order of Series A-Pre A-Seed-Series B-Series C-IPO, and the 3 companies in the businesses of Clouds, E-commerce and IoT have succeeded in attracting foreign capital in the size of Series B and C rounds worth approximately US$ 400 million through the diverse support from Invest Seoul.
In 2023, Invest Seoul will spare no effort to attract foreign capital to CORE 100 companies by discovering more outstanding companies, developing programs tailored to their needs, and connecting with good foreign investors.
